Cajun Do Korean Tang Soo Do

Welcome to Cajun Do!

 

Cajun Do was established in 1997. Founded by Kwan Jang Nim David DeKerlegand, Cajun Do provides training in the traditional Korean martial art of Tang Soo Do. Grandmaster David has been training students all over the world and later offered private instruction after retiring from the U.S. Army. Grandmaster David also holds black belts in Shotokan, Hapkido, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He has won a national Karate championship, several Jiu Jitsu and MMA competitions, and was an alternate for the U.S. Olympic Team.

We are a combat martial art. Our mission is realistic self defense and personal responsibility. We prepare students for real life situations. 


We teach students of all ages, starting as young as 3 years old.


We recommend attending classes at least three hours a week to see progress and improvement.


No. The cost for promotion tests are included in the monthly fee.


No. Life changes, warriors adapt. Train at any class that fits your schedule.


You will need to purchase a uniform, and eventually sparring gear. We will assist you with selecting the proper style and size.


Promotion tests are offered four times per year, once every 90 days. Attendance at the examinations are by invitation only. We are a standards based system. If you meet the standards to promote, then you will be invited.


The earliest opportunity to promote to Cho Dan (1st Degree Black Belt) is a minimum of three years. The global average is five years. 


Yes, weapons training is mandatory. Weapons training begins at 3rd Gup (Red Belt) and will include the traditional Korean weapons of the staff, knife, and sword.
